Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday 28th April 2019 to raise money for The Royal Star and Garter Homes in memory of my Grandma.
The charity, founded in 1916, cared for severely injured young men returning from the battlegrounds of the First World War. Today they provide amazing specialised nursing care for veterans and their partners who live with disability or dementia to enable them to remain as independent as possible and enjoy life.
There are award-winning homes in Surbiton, Solihull and High Wycombe.
My Grandma spent the last couple of years of her life in their Surbiton home, up until she died there in August 2018. The care and compassion she received was wonderful. She felt safe, loved and secure and it was a real home from home, not just for Grandma but us relatives too.
I am running the London Marathon to say thank you to The Royal Star and Garter Homes for providing Grandma with such comfort in the final part of her journey and to ensure this great charity can continue to provide specialist care to support veterans and their partners in their time of need.
