Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In 2012 I completed my first marathon in a time of 3:39, this took in the beautiful scenery in Lochaber, North Scotland. That marathon was about being able to complete the distance and to achieve some personal goals of my own. I learnt a lot about myself and realised I'm tougher than I thought!
Last year I completed the Virgin London Marathon in memory of my mum, Linda who died in September 2003 from cervical cancer. I was only 16 when my mum died, it feels like yesterday but since then my life has taken many turns but where I am today has been as a result of my mums influence. For anyone who was fortunate enough to meet my mum, they will appreciate why she is so dear to me. I hope to continue to raise money for Cancer research as I truly believe that one day they will find a cure. Last year I raised a total of £1930. I was overwhelmed by the support from friends and family. My goal last year was to run sub 3:30 and I achieved this by running a time of 3:28.
My goal this year is different, this marathon will be not for speed but for enjoyment. I aim to take in the atmosphere and support of the crowds. I want to embrace my mums character, she was strong , determined and dedicated, all vital characteristics required to complete a marathon. (I must clarify that whilst my mum was no runner, she did support me greatly when I competed at school, taking me to get my bus with a mug of tea to keep me warm)!
I aim to complete it under 4hours, running sub 9 minute miles. I will be wearing my mum on my shoulder and I'm sure she will keep me moving through those tough miles!
Please show your support to a fantastic cause!
