Story
In April 2013 my mum suddenly passed away and the 2013 London Marathon was the last time I saw her fit and healthy. After that it had always been in the back of my mind to run the marathon in memory of her.
As you may know, I was due to run the marathon in 2019 but got injured. My deferred place in 2020 was affected by Covid so I could only run the marathon virtually. I thought I’d give myself (and all of you) a year off in 2021 so deferred my place to this year.
The time has finally come for me to hit the streets of London and finally run the marathon with my mum in my heart the whole way round.
I am raising money for Guide Dogs after seeing how George has transformed my friend Claire’s life.
Almost two million people in the UK are living with sight loss that has a significant impact on their daily lives. Of those, around 180,000 rarely leave their homes alone and lead lonely, isolated lives. Guide Dogs works for a world where people with sight loss are never left out of life, for a world where being blind or partially sighted is not what defines you. A world with enough support to make the challenges of sight loss no barrier to fulfilling hopes and dreams.
