Story
Kitty has been receiving treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leaukaemia since May 2016 and she has spent a ton of time in hospital. The medical people have been fantastic throughout, but we've found it is often charities who provide so much support around the edges of the treatment itself. We've come into contact with many amazing charities who focus on creating moments of fun and distraction from feeling grim and being stuck in hospital. Make-A-Wish UK grants magical wishes to enrich the lives of children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions. In December 2016 our whole family were so lucky to be invited for a day trip to Lapland by a similar charity. Organising a trip abroad would have been the furthest thing from my mind as Kitty was very ill, vulnerable and frequently being admitted to hospital. The trip was incredible, the kids toasted marshmallows in a snowy winter wonderland forest, had reindeer and husky rides, went sledging and; the huge highlight for Kitty, met Father Christmas and his elves at his village! It was a massive boost for us all, doing something exciting, enjoyable and lifelong memorable. Make-A-Wish wish plans to grant wishes to 1000 children this year from kids meeting their favourite footballer, visiting Disneyland and swimming with dolphins. I'd like to help them do that. Please sponsor me in my first half marathon (gulp)! Training through the winter is pretty grim, with evening runs in the dark and my run this morning was an 8 miler in driving rain and snow. Your support will be for a great cause and do a brilliant job of motivating me! THANK YOU xxx
