CANDLELIGHTERS NEED YOUR HELP!!!

I am 25 and running the London Marathon in April for the first time. I am running for the Candleighters Trust, a Leeds based childrens cancer charity who help fund equipment, research and support for children and their families suffering with various types of cancer, Leukaemia and severe blood disorders.

The trust have existed since 1971, children all over Yorkshire and the Pennines come to receive not only the intesive treatment required to kill cancer cells but support for parents and siblings, ongoing treatment and care once they are released from hospital and the trust often provide some much needed respite.

So far fundraising has provided books, toys, medical equipment, extra staff to support familes and a much needed research facility to be able to facilitate faster and more effective care for children.

The money we raise will help provide extra facilities for the ward in their move to Leeds General Infirmary in April. Equipment like sofa beds so that parents have somewhere to stay beside their children at night whilst undergoing treatment, electronic beds, support workers, facilities that NHS funding simply cannot stretch to. Through fundraising the Charity will be able to provide days out and recreational activities for children who are well enough to go, possibly even the chance to have a short break on the East Coast with the family - a deserved break for all.
