Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Cally & I will be running the World AIDS Day Red Run again, on Saturday 30th November. Cally has been doing quite a bit more training since last year so will hopefully run the 5k this year without stopping - and without complaining! John is also going to be joining us so Cally will have both of us nagging her to keep going!
We are running for a cause that is very dear to my heart - and this year we are raising money for Positive East, an organisation that has been at the forefront of HIV service and care for over 26 years, supporting people from the point of HIV diagnosis to longer term care. Positive East have developed a holistic range of health and wellbeing programmes, from counselling to workshops to HIV testing and prevention, so the money we raise will be put to very good use.
Some of you may remember from our fundraising last year, that my brother died 25 years ago, one of the first people to get HIV and before the advances in drugs we have today. It is terrible when any loved one dies, but when they are young (he was 42) and it is preventable, it seems even more tragic.
We are running so that nobody else has to lose a loved one to AIDS and go through what my family did. It still saddens me that my daughter, who I was expecting at the time, never met her Uncle Robert and that he won't be at her wedding next year.
Please help us to raise as much money as we possibly can.
