Story
2024 update....Those that know me will be aware that, 5 weeks out from the 2023 London Marathon, I injured my hip and unfortunately, eventually had to pull out. Luckily, my hip has recovered and I'm back running again. And even more brilliant, this year I have another opportunity to run the London Marathon, but this time, for I.M.P.S, one of the Oxford Hospital Charity funds. All the money I previously raised will still go to Oxford Hospitals Charity, but the remainder of my fundraising will go to I.M.P.S, which stands for Injury Minimization Programme for Schools.
I.M.P.S. empowers young people to take personal responsibility for assessing and managing their own risk and equips them with the skills to cope in an emergency. As a mum of two boys, aged 9 and 11, I think that the work that I.M.P.S do is absolutely fantastic, and I am so grateful to be able to raise some money for this wonderful charity. All donations very much appreciated....thank you!
The story in 2023....I am delighted to have the opportunity to run the London Marathon in support of Oxford Hospitals Charity. I have been a keen runner for well over 20 years now, and have run one marathon before (15 years ago!), and many half marathons, including the Oxford Half three times.
I'm also a pelvic health physiotherapist, having worked in this specialist area for close to 20 years, and within the Women's and Men's Health Physiotherapy team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust for over 5 years now. One of the best, and most rewarding, parts of my job is working with women to help them achieve their exercise goals, often after pregnancy and childbirth, but also at many different stages of life. I have two boys aged 8 and 10, and getting back to running was an important goal for me post-birth. I've always wanted to run a second marathon, and I'm pretty excited to have the chance to finally achieve this by running the iconic London Marathon.
Oxford Hospitals Charity makes a huge difference to patients and staff across our local hospitals, by transforming our hospitals, creating warm and welcoming environments for patients young and old, and funding the latest specialist medical equipment. I had personal experience of their support of staff over the past few years during the COVID pandemic, and am so pleased to be able to fundraise for them. Oxford Hospitals Charity also funds research and improvements for our hospital staff, including specialist training.
Thank you so much for supporting me, and Oxford Hospitals Charity
