Event: Virgin London Marathon 2010, on 25 April 2010

Story

SO! I'm actually going to run the 26.2 miles of the London Marathon!!

I've wanted to run it for years and despite the Jo Hillier expert procrastination I've finally got a place!!!!!

So how??

With over 150,000 people applying through the ballot for a place every year, it can take up to 5 years to get on the start line.

However, given I'm not getting any younger (or less broken) I figured I can't wait that long and DO intend to be on the start line with 38,999 others on April 25th 2010 and I need your support to put me there.  I have secured my place by agreeing to raise sponsorship for the Miscarriage Assosiation, who's webpage can be found here :

 http://www.miscarriageassociation.org.uk/

This charity helps those who have lost a baby during pregnancy through this lonely and frightening experience by providing information and support when it’s most needed through helplines, leaflets and training hospital staff and doctors .

To help this worthy cause I have a sponsorship target of £1500 and now only 3 months to go :)

As you can see I have some very generous sponsors so fundraising is going well. I'm also thoroughly into my training schedule now and given the current British weather I am learning how to run on ice which is hairy!!

To help raise the £1500 (and keep it interesting!) I've been doing some other "events" in the run up to the marathon. These have included a Halloween Run and my Advent Challenge to run a mile every single day of advent.

I'm also sending out newsletters to keep all my kind sponsors up to date with my progress. Lastly you can find my blog at: http://www.realbuzz.com/blogs/u/Jo1977/jo-runs-london-2010/

which is another way of finding out all about my ups and downs as I prepare for this race.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now - and forward this page on at will!!!

Watching this years race gave me goosebumps; with your help I'll be running not watching in 2010 and raising some much needed cash for a good cause at the same time.

Thank you!

Jo
