Story
11 women die every day from ovarian cancer. March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and I'm walking 11,000 steps a day this March to raise awareness, fund research and save lives.
I was diagnosed with stage 4 Ovarian Cancer in Sep 2017, I had a massive operation to remove my ovaries and pretty much everything else including a large tumour and lots of little cancer cells. I’ve had 2 reoccurrence’s, 3 separate cycles of chemo and I am still here because of all the research that has been done, but we need to do more, we need everyone to know what the symptoms are , they are so like IBS or menopause or so many other illnesses that we need to recognise ovarian cancer. We need to educate GP’s to diagnose. We need to try to find a way to get rid of this cancer. We need to find a way to protect our daughters, granddaughters, nieces and friends
11000 steps is not going to be easy for me, I normally average around 5000 steps and this is equivalent to just over 8k walk each day, 7 days a week for 31 days. This is a big challenge for me, but it is nothing compared to the challenge faced by thousands of women every day that are diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. Thank you for your support, you will motivate me to continue each day. Thank you.
