Story
Paul and I are really excited to be running the Edinburgh Marathon in May 2011 as this will be my first Marathon and Paul's 5th and of course for those of you that have heard about the Yes Man, our Level 5 Yes for 2011!
In the words of the great 'Yes Man' Danny Wallace - Level Five is The forget it level.
Most of us never attain Level Five status. This is saying Yes to attending a wedding in Mozambique. It’s saying Yes to going to a terrible dinner party on the other side of town that you know you’re not welcome at because the last time you were there you insulted someone’s wife and were sick in the host’s shoes. And it’s fancy dress. It’s anything involving planes. Anything involving pains. Anything you totally, utterly, wholeheartedly can’t, won’t or mustn’t say Yes to. That my friends is Level Five.
For this Level 5 we want to make it count for more than just the personal challenge, we want to do something for those saying Yes to surviving and taking on the biggest challenge of their lives everyday.
In the last couple of years we have seen cancer touch the lives of some of our dearest friends and it's for this very reason we have chosen to raise money for Maggie’s Centres.
Maggie’s Centres are a place to turn to for help with any of the problems, small or large, associated with cancer, under one roof you can access help with information, benefits advice, psychological support both individually and in groups, courses and stress reducing strategies and everything they offer is free of charge.
Maggie’s Centres are there for anybody who feels the need for help, which includes those who love and look after someone with cancer, who often feel as frightened and vulnerable as those who actually have the disease.
Maggie’s Centres are many things to many people, they are there for anybody to use in the way they want to, because there isn’t a one size fits all recipe for how you live with cancer and everybody needs to find their own way and it is a Maggie’s Centre that can give you the tools to help yourself.
So now it's time that Paul and I get going.... the official training starts this week so while you're all tucked up cosy on your sofa's in the evening we'll we pounding the streets of Kingston, working off all of those roast potatoes we are bound to eat at Christmas and getting ready for the big day.
Please dig deep, please dig often and please support us to support those who need it.
Thanks
Jo & Paul
