Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
As a family challenge, we are going to walk the South Downs Way this May half-term to raise money and awareness for Action For Pulmonary Fibrosis.
The off-road walk is over 100miles, which starts in Winchester and ends in Eastbourne. It will take us 8-days to complete. We are funding our accomodation and transport, and carrying everything we need on our backs. We are walking in memory of Jo's father who passed away from pulmonary fibrosis in March 2017.
Pulmonary Fibrosis is an incurable scarring disease of the lungs. It usually affects people over 50 years old. There is no cure, but there are some treatments that can slow down the onset of the disease. A lung transplant is an option for only a very small number of people.
Usually once diagnosed, life expectancy is 3-4 years. Nationally, the disease currently affects about 5000 people a year, the number of cases are growing and experts just don’t know why.
Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis was founded in 2013 in the UK. We want to raise money and awareness for this charity, provide funding for important research and support families affected by this horrible disease.
If you support us before we set off, you will be helping us to get going.
If you support us whilst we are on our way, you will be helping us to finish.
If you suppport us once we have fininshed, we will be delighted to know that we have completed our family challenge.
Either way,
Thank you MASSIVELY in advance for your support! We will endeavour to keep you posted on our 100 mile journey using this website.
