Story
Why am I swimming the English Channel when I can fly to France?
1. I always tell my daughters: 'You can do anything you put your mind to.' Now it is time for me to practice what I preach.
But, most importantly...
2. Every summer I hear news reports on children drowning and I wanted to do something to help make a small difference.
The charity Swim Tayka taught me that drowning claims 360,000 lives every year, many of them children. Their mission is to give disadvantaged communities around the world access to swimming teachers providing the life skill of swimming and water safety. With education we can help prevent children from drowning.
Apparently more people have climbed Mount Everest than swum the English Channel, hence this challenge being known as the Mount Everest of all swims.
I will be part of a relay team of 6 swimming from Dover to France. It will take around 18 hours with jelly fish, waves and night swims wearing a swim suit, swim hat and goggles, yes, that is it.
Training has begun, all I need is for you to sponsor me! Give generously. Give what you can. I'll keep you posted on my progress and keep you in my mind as I keep on swimming
Thank you. With love.
