Story

Thank you so much for taking the time to look over my page!

I am running (mostly... I hope) the Bristol Half Marathon in September this year in memory of James Roberts, who was tragically killed in a car accident in November last year. I am taking part in this run with a group of close friends 'the disciples'.

Although I was once capable of running or at least moving faster than a walking pace for some distance, it is safe to say I have not done this for some time! Therefore completing this half marathon would be a massive achievement for me and I'm sure myself and the rest of 'the disciples' will have James' boot up our ass the whole way!

As a group we are raising money for two charities:

- the Wiltshire Air Ambulance: a charity run organisation who are hugely important to our rural community, as their helicopter can reach victims in many areas of our countryside, that a normal ambulance could not. It requires £6,850 a day to keep flying! Its a charity that James and his team at JRFS did an awful lot of fundraising for, raising £6000!! And the charities support for injured local horseriders, was one of the reasons he held it close to his heart, particularly as it picked him up several times!

- the other charity is Road Peace: for which this page is dedicated. To lose someone in a car accident is a horrible waste of life, it leaves those behind not only distraught at the loss of a loved one but angry at the cause for this loss. Road Peace not only provides emotional support to those who have lost a loved one in an car accident, but is also working towards getting investigations and inquests into accidents improved, that will lead to more appropriate sentencing and justice for victims in the future.

James was a hugely influential person for someone of his age and his impact on those around him was immeasurable. We can however continue his legacy by not only supporting those causes that he cared about but also aid in causes that can support those who, like those who knew James, have also lost in tragic car accidents.

Linked to my page is our Team Page, 'The Disciples' - which will show the link to Vicky's Page. She has explained in brilliant detail why both these charities have been so influential, so please take the time to read that.

Although this page is linked to Road Peace, as a group we are hoping to raise a lot of money for both charities described, and the team page will link you to my other friends pages - so PLLLEEAASSEEE dig deep and support our causes!! Any contribution you can give would be amazing and we would all be hugely grateful!! Thank you!

We are hoping to upload photos and videos of our training, which I'm sure will give you all a good giggle!

James would be so proud of us all if we manage this... there's no way we will fail!!!!
