Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Our friends Dave and Sharon's daughter, Chloe, went into hospital last year, for what should have been a routine appendix operation. Yet, less than two weeks later she had died from Sepsis. They are utterly heartbroken and struggling to understand why this could happen in 2018. Like most of us they didn't know what Sepsis is and what symptoms and signs to look for, if they had done, Chloe would still be alive; as it is she died at just 20. Chloe was a lovely young woman, beautiful on the inside, as well as the outside, who always put others first and was incredibly kind and thoughtful. She had a wonderful life ahead of her before she contracted Sepsis.
Please give generously so we can raise money for The Sepsis Trust, so other families don't suffer the same heartbreak as our friends. The Sepsis Trust visits schools, doctors and hospitals to educate and raise awareness of this disease so hopefully another young person doesn't lose their life and another family doesn't have to live the nightmare Dave and Sharon are going through, caused by this devastating but preventable disease.
Dave started fundraising by doing a sponsored 30 mile walk on Christmas day (2018). We were amongst friends and family that joined him for part of his twelve and a half hour ordeal and this got all of us thinking about what we could do to raise money and awareness of Sepsis. I was lucky enough to get a ballot place for the London Marathon and it seems fitting that I should use this opportunity to honour Chloe Rideout. So on the 28th April 2019, I will be running my first marathon in aid of the Sepsis Trust. This is a massive undertaking for me, as although I am a member of a local running club, it is well out of my comfort zone. It will require a huge amount of strength and determination but this is nothing compared to the fight Chloe put up as she fought for her life in the final days before she eventually succumbed to Sepsis.
