Story

As a new staff member I have seen the great impact SSJ has on our clients lives and feel inspired to do something to help.

I have seen first hand, how SSJ support people who are struggling with addiction to overcome their struggles and I want to undertake the Spinnaker Abseil Challenge to raise money for these important services.

15 years ago I arrived in Portsmouth with two bags of belongings to access substance misuse treatment. I am very pleased to say that was the last time I used drugs. I have now been in recovery for fifteen years and I have been so inspired by SSJ's ethos that I really want to raise some money for the service I now work in.  I wish there had been a service like the Community Day Rehab there for me when I needed it as it would have made my recovery a lot stronger.

At community day rehab we don't criticise or judge, we help people gain the self-esteem and self-worth that they have lost during their time using drugs and alcohol.  I want to raise money for SSJ so that they can continue to do amazing work like I see every day in Portsmouth.
