Story
Ordinary People. Extraordinary Care. Supported by you.Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance brings an advanced critical care team to people in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight when they need it most. Highly skilled crews of Doctors, Paramedics and Pilots can be at the scene of an incident within minutes. It currently costs in excess of £9,000 a day to maintain our life saving service, and it is only thanks to the generosity of the communities that we serve that we are able keep the Air Ambulance flying and saving lives.
On 25/02/2017 the air ambulance came to my rescue and saved my life. The incredible NHS not only put me back together but got me back on me feet …. less than 4 months after my accident I did my first ever open water swim (Bournemouth pier to pier) to prove to myself I was starting to get better. It was one of the toughest things I have ever done and on reflection I should have trained in open water as well as the pool!
This year I am running 3 marathons and 2 ultra marathons (having never raced further than a half marathon before). The ultimate test comes in autumn -- in the space of 5 weeks I'm running the New Forest marathon, the Pony Express 30mile ultra marathon and the Great South Run.
It costs over £9000 a day to keep the air ambulance running - I am aiming to raise 10% of this. Please donate what you can to an incredible service that receives no government funding.
