Age UK Camden are receiving more than 200 calls a day from distressed older people without enough food in the house. In a response to this we have turned our two sites in the North and South of the borough into hubs.

Story

Age UK Camden are receiving more than 100 calls a day from distressed older people who dont have enough food in the house, are too nervous to go out and have no way to get food delivered. In a response to this we have turned our two sites in the North and South of the borough into hubs, and will now open 7 days a week, for the collection and distribution of emergency food parcels. We are working hard to support our client group to reduce their risk of Coronavirus while continuing to care and support them. Whilst older people are at increased risk of loneliness and isolation at this time, our biggest challenge is undoubtedly making sure they can access the support and services they need whilst staying safe and healthy at home. We know many older peoples lives are at risk because of the pandemic, but we also must make sure that there are no needless deaths due to food poverty, malnutrition or total isolation.
