Story
Having lived with Crohn's for many years I have found that although it may not be a life-limiting disease, it definitely is a life changing condition. After my first surgery 8 years ago and the realisation that I have to live with a colostomy bag for the rest of my life I came to a conclusion that I would not allow it to control my life or keep me from achieving my goals, instead I would continue each and every day as if it was not there to hold me back.
With this in mind I saw the White Collar boxing charity event advertised and thought it was about time I threw myself into a big challenge in life to celebrate the fact that I have had all the surgery I will need for my condition (fingers crossed)
I decided to take part in this crazy, once in a life time event not only to raise money for Ashgate Hospice which is a fantastic local charity that provides palliative care for people with life-limiting illnesses and helps support the families involved during some of the most difficult times of their lives but to prove to myself and to others that Crohn's didn't win... I did (and hopefully I will win at the boxing too lol)
After 8 Weeks of intensive training I will be taking part in a weigh in and face off with my opponent and then in a 3 round boxing match where I get to enter the arena (at Derbys Ipro Stadium) like a boxing pro and experience the thrill of being center stage (before I get knocked out lol).
Please sponsor me so we can raise lots of money for this fantastic charity to help support others who are not lucky enough to have the health to do a fundraising event such as this. We all hope that we would never have to use the services of such amazing charities but to know that you are helping provide such valuable support at the most vulnerable time in a families life is a great reward....win or lose!
The clock is ticking...the training is hard and the gloves are on!!!
