David Goggins' 4x4x48 Running Challenge · 5 November 2021

We are the childhood cancer experts working to improve treatment, care and outcomes.

Story

In October, some of GWD's members will be competing in a battle cancer event in London, raising money for CCLG (Children’s Cancer & Leukaemia Group).

And now on 5th-7th November, Head Coach Joe and GWD member Harry McGrory will be running the David Goggins 4x4x48 challenge for the same charity to try and do their bit.

How did this come about?

Harry came to me (Joe), feeling inspired and wanting a big challenge to sink his teeth into. I did a bit of research and nothing stood out more than this challenge, mainly because it's as much a mental challenge as it is a physical one.

Then, somehow, I got dragged into it and agreed to do it with him! We now have 6 weeks to prepare for probably the toughest event either of us have ever done. So here's a breakdown of what we have to do....

Run 4 miles, every 4 hours, for 48 hours.  That totals 48 miles of running in 48 hours (almost 2 marathons). Simple as that.

Which also means minimal sleep as we will be running through the night, which apparently is what makes this challenge so tough. Plus the fact we have decided to do it in November so the night runs are going to be freezing!

This challenge sends a shiver down my spine just thinking about it, so Harry and I would really appreciate your support. It would mean so much to us, the GWD community, and of course CCLG (Children’s Cancer & Leukaemia Group)
