Story

I am going to completely push myself to trek the largest free standing mountain in the world, over six days, sleeping in a tent, & no phone signal, through blistering sun, wind, rain, & snow. My goal is to summit the mountain, with an altitude of 5895m to raise money for a life-saving cause.

Meningitis is the WORLD’S SIXTH biggest infectious disease killer. It kills more children than HIV & malaria combined, with very few symptoms, in as little as TWELVE hours. It is still a MAJOR epidemic in lots of places of the world, including Africa where I shall be hiking. 1 in 10 people die from Meningitis after they have caught the disease, and 1 in 5 of those people will lose their limbs. More than 290,000 people died from this awful disease in 2017.

By donating money & sponsoring this charity with me, we will help to aid in treatment in counties to prevent this deadly disease. This disease can be prevented with various treatment such as vaccination. (Hence why case numbers are lower in the UK, compared to Africa. Meningitis is vaccinated against in the UK but not in many other parts of the world). £3900 will raise enough money for MANY, MANY, MANY vaccinations and save children all over the world. By donating, we will literally save THOUSANDS of lives & thousands of children!

Meningitis Research are at the heart of the initiative that is working with the World Health Organisation and leading experts on the disease to tackle meningitis globally. Our intrepid volunteers are taking on this incredible challenge and raising money to help us defeat meningitis and septicaemia COMPLETELY by 2023! Let’s do it! ❤️

Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours. Small children and young adults are high risk, but all ages can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die daily. We fundraise to invest in research, campaign for vaccines, provide symptom information and support those already affected.
