As some of you will be aware, my business partner and the founder of Peldon Rose was Andrew Yates. Andrew suffers from primary progressive MS which is extremely aggressive, and at only age 50 it has significantly worsened the quality of his life.
MS is a disabling and progressive neurological disease that affects approximately 100,000 people in the UK.
Primary progressive MS affects
about 10 to 15 per cent of people diagnosed with MS. It has this name because from the
first (primary) symptoms it is progressive. Symptoms gradually get
worse over time, rather than appearing as sudden attacks.
More and more research
into understanding and treating progressive
MS is being done –
there’s now real momentum and hope of finding new treatments.
Progressive MS is the MS Society’s top research priority and that of the global research community – with new knowledge being gained, new projects funded and clinical trials running, there’s real hope on the horizon.
Although too late to halt the MS in Andrew, a cure for progressive MS would be a life saver for others.
This year, Peldon Rose has a thematic goal of supporting MS society fund projects, especially towards progressive MS, which is a cause dear to our heart.
