Story
The Light the Lakes event sees teams of police officers, staff, retired colleagues and their friends light up the famous Wainwright Fells of Cumbria in memory of colleagues who have lost their lives on duty.
We will be raising funds for Care of Police Survivors (COPS) a charity which supports surviving families.
During 18-19 June the Joint International Policing Hub, colleagues and friends will travel a 14.5km route (2.5km elevation) to Scoat Fell and camp overnight, to light flares in memory of officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Check out some of our pictures from 2019 in the gallery above.
This year in particular we remember Police Sergeant Matt Ratana, who tragically was taken from us on the 25 September 2020 whilst serving our communities. To learn more about his legacy and the Whanau Way visit: https://mattratanarugby.foundation.
Light the Lakes was cancelled in 2020, making 2021 that more urgent and special.
Your support is much appreciated. All monies are transferred directly to COPS.
