BRPS- Trek The Sahara · 7 March 2009 to 14 March 2009 ·

Retina UK is the only UK charity dedicated solely to working for people affected by inherited sight loss. We fund medical research to accelerate the search for treatments for the future, and provide information and support to help people lead better lives today.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Anybody that's seen me plunge headfirst into a streetlight/wall/coffee table etc will be  aware of RP and the various ways it can produce all variety of interesting cuts & bruises. As some of you may be aware from recent media coverage, research into treatment for RP is starting to take off with some promising results.

That's why I've decided to join this trek - research & clinical trials are incredibly expensive. The quicker they get funds in, the more chance there is of finding ways to beat RP.

The challenge is a week-long trek through the Sahara, in rather hot conditions over approx 95km  distance, some at very high altitudes, so it will be an effort, but I hope you'll agree well worth it.

Obviously I'll be taking lots of pics to prove I went :0)

NB trip is funded from donations, but I will be sposoring myself quite a bit so it's not a free holiday.
