Story
Last year we successfully completed the Transcontinental Race (TCR) No. 6, covering a total of 3839 km (~2385 miles) in a time of 15 days 1 hour and 47 minutes.
Through the generosity of family, friends and the kindness of strangers we raised a fantastic £2425 for the Royal Trinity Hospice in the process.
Because we loved the experience so much last year (well I did, Rach was a little unsure during the immediate post-race period), we're going to have another go!
This year it's all change for the Transcontinental Race No. 7 with a huge route change to take the race from East to West. TCR No. 7 starts at 06:00 on July 27th in Burgas, Bulgaria and finishes in Brest, France, a full blown European cost-to-coast! Our aim is to make it to Brest in time for the finishers party on Sunday 11th August (16 days after the start), but we'd really love to finish quicker than we managed last year if we can.
Now, usually people don't like seeing requests for donations/sponsorship year on year from the same people, not least from people doing the same event again! However, the fact of the matter is that the incredible work of the staff at Royal Trinity Hospice is provided 24/7 all year, every year. They provide care and support for 2500 people with advanced illnesses each year, with running costs for Royal Trinity Hospice at around £14 million per year. Only a minor fraction of this cost is covered with funding through the NHS, so the hospice must rely heavily on donations to continue to provide exceptional levels of care to those who need it.
So, yes we've completed a similar challenge before, yes we asked you for donations last time around, but Royal Trinity Hospice absolutely still need your support!
Thanks,
Jim & Rach
