Seven years ago I set myself a goal to run the London Marathon; little did I realise that I would be 50 before I got the opportunity, it has meant that I’ve kept up the running all this time though. The marathon training has been tough, (22 miles last weekend!) especially during this cold winter but now I’m feeling good and really looking forward to the long awaited race (and not having to do the training).   

I am raising money on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Society. Sadly my Mum was diagnosed with it last year so it is an issue I feel strongly about and can relate to. Considering our aging population I feel awareness about this disease needs to be raised and I hope that one day future generations are not affected by the impacts of this debilitating illness.

MARATHON COMPLETED!!

After many years I finally achieved one of my ambitions and ran the London Marathon completing it in 4 hours 19 minutes! It was a special day and a fantastic experience, the atmosphere and the crowds were amazing and that really helped me get though the last few miles. Having said that it is not something I will be doing again in the near future (the aching legs are still making walking down stairs a challenge).
