I have been a trustee of the Greenwich Starting Blocks Trust since 2007 when it was founded with the intention of supporting young sports people from Greenwich who have Olympic ambitions. Since then athletes supported by Greenwich Starting Blocks have won European medals, Commonwealth medals and Olympic Medals!

At the moment practically all  government funding for sport has disappeared and several of our elite athletes are struggling to pay for their travel expenses to Olympic qualifying events overseas and this is specifically what I am raising money for.

In addition Greenwich Starting Blocks supports over 500 young sports people at non-elite levels as they work hard in fulfilling their own individual Olympic dream.

As a nation, we all enjoy the Olympics and we enjoy it even more when the UK is winning medals, but we cannot maintain our national success unless we support our young sportspeople in qualifying for the events.
