Story
My friends Damian, Mick and I will be attempting to walk the Camino (Approx 500 miles) from St. Jean Pied de Port to Santiago de Compostela from the 28th of August to the 24th of September. The Camino is also known as the Way of St James and was an important Christian pilgrimage in the Middle Ages. Pilgrims walked the route in order to reduce the punishment of their sins. Nowadays, people walk the Camino for several purposes. Some simply looking for a new challenge, others for a religious or spiritual purpose, some to walk it in order to get away from the business of their everyday lives and connect with nature, some to learn more about the local cultures and some had other reasons for walking the Camino. For me personally it is a little all of the above. I am a little anxious if I am able to make the entire distance but I am really looking forward to it.
I am fund raising for CAFOD which is a charity that is providing support to the poor during the current food crisis. Did you know that right now, around the world, - as many as 811 million people are facing the threat of extreme hunger?
As they save in Spain on the Walk, Bon Camino.
