Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Last year I supported about 30 colleagues who rode 180 miles for COPS and was inspired to actually ride this year because supporting families surviving cops who have died on duty having put others first is important to me and I hope you guys.
I'm riding in memory of someone I knew when I was a 17 year old Police cadet in 1984 - Pc Dan Archer, who died trying to protect others in a tragic car crash.
Dan took the time and trouble to help me when I was thrown in at the deep end in Charles Street control room... it was a shock when he died, perhaps the first time I saw at first hand what a sacrifice being a good cop means.
I currently work with two colleagues who were also injured in the same crash so it is still very real for us all over 30 years later - I'm sure it is for Dan's family - who I will meet when I complete the 180 miles later this month.
I'm not built for road cycling but I will do my best for Dan's relatives and the other survivors now and in the future - please support me.
