Story
As many of you know, I'm a volunteer for Make A Wish and have the privilege of meeting the children and families who benefit from this charity. This year in our region each volunteer has been challenged to raise £2,020 for 2020...and I couldn't say no! People were all so kind last year for the marathon that I thought I better raise the stakes to see if I can drag in the £s...so this year I'm doing:
- A 26.5 mile run around Kielder Water in Northumberland in the dark on March 21st
- A trail marathon at Coniston Water on 7th June - did this 4 years ago so trying to go a little faster....
- And the last challenge (possibly ever) a 45 mile run round Windermere on 12th September.
Any pennies shoved in the pot will help us grant wishes to kids who are living with life limiting or life threatening conditions. In the last 6 months referrals for wishes have gone up 60%...and we desperately want to grant those wishes...so please do what you can. In Make-A-Wish's own words...
Make-A-Wish UK grant magical wishes to enrich the lives of children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions. Granting their wish provides seriously ill children with hope for the future, strength to cope and resilience to fight their condition. They’re given quality time away from the daily realities of living with their condition and given the chance to make magical memories they can treasure forever – whatever their future may hold. We want to transform the lives of 1,000 children this year by granting their One True Wish!
