Story

On the 1st February 2018, a small team of us will travel to Rovaniemi in Finland to embark on a trek to the Arctic Circle. Over 3 days we will trek 80km, pulling pucks in conditions as low as -35degsC.

We would be so grateful if you were in a position to make this trip be all it can be for two very special charities. 100% of your donation will go to our heartfelt causes.

The background to our causes:

You reach a stage in your life when the majority of your friends start planning families; I think we are all guilty of assuming when you reach that stage it is just a given that you will have a beautiful, healthy family. The reality is that those who are graced with one, truly are blessed.

A significant number of our loved ones have gone through traumatic and unimaginable journeys in recent months and years. Some are confronted with complications, some just quite simply cannot conceive. Some have had the joy of a child but haven’t been blessed with their health.

It’s only then that heads are truly turned to the challenges the Glasgow’s Children Hospital (formerly Yorkhill) are confronted with daily. In addition to the remarkable work of these specialists; the incredible support SANDS provides to the couples who have tragically experienced loss of a baby at birth or neonatal is invaluable. This isn’t just a personal appeal.

When I was asked to take part in this extreme challenge, it seemed very clear who and what my fundraising would be for. So when times get tough on this trek, which I have been assured…they will; the focus will be on the cause, on our loved ones and those who are going through such torment on an unimaginable journey that no couple should have to endure.

We are nervous of the elements but excited and game for this Arctic challenge. Let this incredible experience and accomplishment facilitate an opportunity to fundraise for two remarkable causes. Please help.

Please note that the trip is 100% self funded. ALL donations go to the causes.

💛Thank you💛
