Story
Attending IFES World Assembly is the most amazing experience (I went last time). It has been wonderful to see how the students I met last time have gone on to do great things in their own universities, IFES student movements, communities or workplaces. Being a delegate to World Assembly tends to inspire people, to challenge them as they hear how their peers in radically different contexts, or in similar ones have done things differently, or made the same hard choices. Delegates see a bigger picture of what God is doing and want even more to be part of it, whatever that might look like, whether in Christian ministry, community service, fighting corruption, in leadership roles in church and society.
This time, I am part of the staff team in Oxford trying to raise money for scholarships for 18 students from soft currency countries to attend in South Africa in July 2019. Will you help?
Having developed Alopecia Areata (autoimmune alopecia), I can't dye my hair as one former colleague did to raise money, and it's too late to ask folk to sponsor me to shave it (though I'd have felt a bit of a fraud asking folk to sponsor me to shave off about 50 hairs) so the next best thing is to wear wigs.
I have ordered 14 wigs in the closest (in a very loose definition!) approximation to IFES brand colours that I could find, and will wear each of them for one day 3-16 September. Daily selfies will be posted on social media for your entertainment! Basically, I'm going to look ridiculous for two whole weeks because I love IFES and I love students! See the main photo to see what I have let myself in for (these will be added as they are delivered). I won't be wearing them for cycling, but otherwise, will wear them all day!
Please, please, please make it worth my while!
