Fundraising for Prevent Breast Cancer
Thank you for visiting my page and reading about how I plan to support BreastFest and Prevent Breast Cancer.
In 2006 I was diagnosed with early stage non-invasive breast cancer. Following a lumpectomy, radiotherapy and a course of tamoxifen, I made a full recovery and am still here living life to the full!
I was one of the lucky ones. My story demonstrates the importance of early identification and intervention to enable the best outcome. Sadly, this is not the case for many and 11500 women lose their lives to breast cancer each year.
This year, I have become one of Manchester's "BooBees" to help raise awareness of breast health in the region, whilst raising money to fund valuable research into preventing breast cancer.
I celebrated my 50th birthday in March. It seems apt that I should be involved with this excellent cause this year; 50 is a significant age when it comes to breast screening! Over 80% of women diagnosed with breast cancer are over 50. What better way to remind women to go and have their routine mammogram than to throw myself out of a plane?! (If you don't think that's brave enough, I'll be modelling lingerie on a catwalk in October!!)
Let's help to make breast cancer a thing of the past!
Thank you for your support.
