Story
Julia’s House Patron, Eddie Howe, and CEO Martin Edwards, together with a group of fundraising local business leaders, will put their middle-aged bodies through the ultimate HIIT challenge to fund two Julia’s House nurses for a year. Please support us as we sweat!
On March 18th, we will attempt a marathon of High Intensity Interval Training workouts with ghastly names like Cardio Challenge, Max Cardio and Max Sweat. That’s two hours of nearly non-stop press-ups, squat-thrusts, lunges and similar instruments of torture.
Eddie comments: “It didn’t take much persuasion for me to say yes to the HIIT challenge, although Martin is a persuasive man! There’s a good reason you only usually do 30 min HIIT work outs. It’s really tough. 2 hours will feel like a marathon. But just like Martin, I couldn’t be doing it for a better cause.”
Julia’s House CEO Martin added: “32 long years have passed since my athletic prime, when I applied (unsuccessfully) to be an aerobics instructor at the Candy Colby Body Studio in Florida. When you consider sponsoring us, think of all the hard training, the sweaty laundry bills, the boring broccoli I’m chomping through, and all the cider I’m foregoing to help the charity that I love and lead.”
Here’s another reason to sponsor us:
Having a Julia’s House nurse on their side meant the world to Dan and Maiju when they discovered their daughter had suffered brain damage. “Nurse Alex came to see us when Elisa was in intensive care. Alex was like a Fairy Godmother – she realised we needed support and organised care at the hospital so we could have a break. The Julia’s House team are not like nurses to us, they are like an extended part of the family.”
