Story
In October I will be putting one foot in front of the other for 26.2 miles (or 42.195km) to raise money for Helen and Douglas House. Helen & Douglas House supports terminally ill children and their families so that they don't have to face unimaginable heartbreak alone. To keep providing the care and love these families depend on, the charity need to find over £3.4 million a year.
Helen and Douglas House look after many children, including my friend Tom through his illness. Tom had an impact on everyone that had the honour of meeting him, the nicest man I have ever met, and someone so strong. His passing at the age of 11 is something I have never quite come to terms with, but a small comfort has always been hearing of the care and support he received from the Helen and Douglas House team.
Helen and Douglas House is a charity my family and I have supported for some time, and for a number of years I volunteered at the charity shop. It means a lot to me, and I would love for them to be able to support many more families going through the most difficult of times. I would appreciate any assistance you can give as I try and support the hospice further by running the marathon to raise money. I am not a natural runner (co-ordination can be seen by my balance kicking the football), but I am going to give it all I have got. Training is underway and looking forward to the date, if you are in London come along and watch.
Thanks for your support with my London Marathon JustGiving challenge! My page donations will be sent direct to the charity in a fast and secure way. It's efficient, saves time and cuts costs for the charity.
