Two things I never thought I’d do -
The time has now come to do both in one hit...
In March 2017, after a couple of months feeling under the weather, my Dad was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer with no hope of recovery. Despite treatment aimed at prolonging his life and a brave fight, he was gone just 7 months later. I was very much on the journey with him, witnessing first hand the highs and the lows, all the way through to the end. I’d have done anything, and I mean anything, to cure him, improve the journey for him or simply give him a better quality of life in his final months.
I’m running for Bowel Cancer UK, the country’s leading bowel cancer charity. They are determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. With more resources they could save more people. Saving a life isn’t just about curing someone, it can be about improving quality of life at the worst times too. Take action.
Those that know me well will know this will be the biggest challenge I’ve ever faced and will know what an achievement it will be to make it over the finishing line. I’m as un-sporty as they come and, up until a month ago, I hadn’t run (other than to catch a train) since I left school.
I’m ready and I’m determined. Back me and help me back this wonderful charity, to change the experience for others. It could happen to any of us.
This one is for you old man...big love xxx
