Story
I am a young ambassador for Alder Hey and have been raising money in memory of my little sister Georgie for 6 years. Georgie died when she was just 5 days old when I was 6. Everything I do is to make her proud of me.
Every year during the week of Georgie's birthday I organise a bike ride. Unfortunately due to the current pandemic I had to cancel my planned ride last year. I was so upset about it, I decided to use my exercise hour each day in May to ride for Alder Hey. I managed to ride 300 miles over the month which I am very proud of.
This year I am hoping to walk or cycle over 300 miles and I am hoping to catch up with as many friends and family who I have missed to much through coronavirus for socially distanced walks
Alder Hey have a new campaign to help children with Mental health problems. They are aiming to reach a million miles cycled, walked, swam or ran by Jan 2022. I have pledged to add 2,000 miles to that.
I made Georgie a promise before she died that I would help poorly children and their families. ThAnKyOu for helping me keep that promise. It means the world to me that you have visited my page, every £1 helps. I love you all Jess xxx.
7 out of 10 children and young people who experience a mental health condition have not had appropriate interventions at a sufficiently early age. Our £3 million pound 7 in 10 Children's Mental Health Appeal is aiming to raise vital funds to enhance inpatient and community mental health services at Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust, enabling more children to access the treatment they need at the time they need it. You can help now by signing up for our amazingly ambitious Million Mile challenge by pledging to cover a distance - running, walking, peddling, swimming, or hopping even and by raising sponsorship money you will be helping us towards our £3m target. Exercise is proven to benefit mental health. So what better way to support children and young people who need access to mental health services than to walk, run, cycle or swim and help us to reach a #MillionMiles for children's mental health by 2022.
