Our beautiful daughter Jessica was born in September 2011 with a severe heart defect called hypoplastic left heart syndrome.  This was diagnosed at her 20 week scan and we were initially told that she was unlikely to be suitable for surgery.  However, a pioneering in-utero operation at 28 weeks to enlarge a hole in her atrial septum was carried out and she was able to make it to term and get through her first open-heart surgery at just eight hours old.  Since birth, she has had four operations and will need more as she gets bigger.  We have been charting her journey through her blog at http://jessica-thejourney.blogspot.com

Little Hearts Matter are a charity which offer support and information for children and those families who are affected by single ventricle heart conditions, such as hypoplastic left heart syndrome.  We have found the information and support they provide very helpful along this journey and we would like to support their work.  If you would also like to support the work they do, you can do so via this page and your donations will go directly to Little Hearts Matter.
