Story
My father sadly died in May 2021 at the age of 51 from a brain tumour. He died 9 weeks after his diagnosis of a Grade 3 Anaplastic Astrocytoma. His life revolved around cycling and has completed the Carten100 three times. I've never been a keen cyclist but I want to take on this challenge because it's something I thought I'd never be able to do, and I'm sure he'd think the same. This challenge would be very fitting and we're doing it for a very important cause.
The Carten100 consists of cycling 109 miles, starting in Cardiff and finishing in Tenby. We will be cycling on the 20th May 2023. I will be completing this challenge with Jack and Alice Tudor, who have never sat on a road bike, like myself, before January 2023. As well as Caroline and Julian Kelly who are avid cyclists and will hopefully keep us intact! We're hoping to raise as much money as we can for our chosen charity.
The money raised will be donated straight to the charity Brain Tumor Research (BTR). The money will go towards helping BTR find a cure for brain tumours which are the biggest killer of children and adults under the age of 40. Only 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to BTR.
