Story
On the 27th July, we will be taking on the UK’s epic Three Peak Challenge in support of the mental health charity MIND.
Until recently, the stigma attached with having a mental health condition, meant people kept their problems hidden or dismissed them. Mental Health Awareness campaigning has enabled individuals suffering with mental health, to speak out and seek out the support they need. Just as any other medical condition, they can vary from light to severe, but each should be treated on its own merits. The statistics show one in four people suffer at every year with symptoms of a mental health issue, and can wait up to 3 months before the appropriate care is administered. Left untreated, just as with any other sickness, the condition can deteriorate. The current systems in place do not have enough admin support, and funding for programmes, therefore limiting the services organisations such as Mind can provide. Mental health does not only affect the individual but can also impact on their families and friends.
Mental health is very close to our hearts, and we have witnessed how unsupported and underfunded the system is. By doing this challenge, we hope you see our commitment in wanting to help others with a mental health condition, get the best opportunities they can. Anything we can do to help organisations such as MIND, through us setting ourselves challenges such as this, we are more than happy to oblige. If you are able to make a small donation in support of our quest, it would be very much appreciated. We will be keeping you posted via our Facebook and Just giving pages throughout our time on the challenge, whether it's on the road, fuelling up on bacon butties or hiking up the mountain. So set yourselves a phone reminder for the 27th July for some serious entertainment!
We thank you in advance for any donations, and hope that we inspire many more to take a little time out and do some fundraising of their own for such a brilliant and needed cause.
