Myname is JessicaBrown, I am a children’s well being worker for the Link charitable Trust, in Redcar and Cleveland. The Link Charitable Trust is a charity who provide emotional and well-being support for children, adults and families. This takes place in the form of groups, such as arts and crafts, social groups, allotments group, workshops such as menopause support, anxiety and confidence building for children.  We also offer 1:1 support, counselling and cognitive behavioural therapy.

 I am taking up a personal challenge and will be completing a TREK IN THE SAHARA DESERT this is to raise funds for the Link Charitable Trust.  I will be trekking during the day and camping during the night over four days. The Trek will be challenging as I will be walking through the Desert carrying my belongings in a large rucksack during the day and where the temperatures are around 30’C. I will be camping during the night where the temperature will drop to around -10’C. The terrain of the desert which is very sandy and undulating will also make the trek challenging. 

Mental health support is important to me, being able to support others through tough times in their life, supporting children, adults and families to see hope and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The Link Charitable Trust provides this support on a daily basis for the people in our local area and without the help of donations they would not be able to continue its service. The Link Charitable Trust relies solely on funding for their crucial work. Outcomes have proven that through support from the children, adults and families have felt an improved emotional well being and have felt supported to reach a more balanced and happier life.

The staff are friendly, all of services available, all ages, male and female, they have helped me when Ive been very low.
