Story
This year on Sunday 5th of July, I am taking part in a sponsored 4 mile walk with some of my friends to raise money and awareness for Lupus.
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) causes the body's immune system to go into overdrive and attack itself. Lupus can cause many different symptoms and can attack any part of the body. 90% of Lupus patients are female but anyone can be affected by Lupus. It is a complex condition and can take an average of 7 years for a diagnosis.
My brave Mum was diagnosed with Lupus when she was 19 by a German doctor. Unfortunately, she lost her battle with Lupus on Monday 13th of April 2015. 12 years ago she had a Lupus flare up which destroyed her kidneys and she spent the rest of her life on dialysis. She was not one to complain and always had a positive outlook on life. She was, and still is, such an inspiration to me.
I want to raise money and awareness for all the brave Women, Men and Children who have to live with Lupus and I want to make my Mum proud.
Please sponsor me £1 (or whatever you can) to help this cause. There is no cure for Lupus but together we can help raise awareness and help support those living with Lupus and fund research that will hopefully, one day lead to a breakthrough.
I really appreciate all your support.
I love you Mum.
