Hello everyone!
I am running the Great North Run half marathon in September for the NSPCC and I need your help!
'Why on earth...?' you may ask. I just did the Nike 10K and I thought, 'Hey, I if I can do 10K, I can definitely do 21...' But this time I didn't just want to do it for me. When I reach those dreadful last 200m, I want to be pushing through for something much bigger than 'running for fun'.
The NSPCC believes that every childhood is worth fighting for and so do I.
I never had to make any difficult decisions, beyond what cereal to have or which barbie's hair to cut off.
My parents were there for me, and when I fell asleep in the car, I woke up in my bed. I had clothes to wear to school, lunch in my backpack and enough food to feed the ducks too.
I never watched anyone in my family hurt the other, instead I watched Saturday morning cartoons. And it certainly didn't matter which of my parents changed me into my pjs every night, because I was just a little girl.
Our families loved us, encouraged us and protected us so we could just be kids, but not every child is so lucky.
The NSPCC works with schools, health professionals and families to help protect kids from abuse. I recently became a counsellor for their helpline ChildLine. We answer a call from a child every 25 seconds.
£5 helps answer a call from an adult who is concerned about a child
£25 pays for a trained counsellor to give an hour of support
Big or small, I really do appreciate any support you can give :)
