In England and Wales, at least 1 in 5 women have experienced some form of sexual violence since the age of 16. 

Rape Crisis centres provide invaluable specialist support services for victims of sexual violence. Services include free counselling, advocacy, helplines and practical support with housing, benefits and health assessments.

There are 41 Rape Crisis centres in England and Wales. I am fundraising for Greater Manchester Rape Crisis. Manchester RC provide a helpline, free counselling, advocacy and practical advice for women and girls who have suffered sexual violence. 

UPDATE:

On 25th April I’ll be running the Local Landmarks virtual half marathon to replace Hackney Half which has been postponed, to fundraise for Manchester Rape Crisis Centre.

The mental health impacts of social distancing and self-isolation may be greater for those already coping with trauma, and the social distancing and self-isolation measures needed throughout Covid-19 pose serious risk to victims of sexual and domestic violence, where for many home is not a safe place to be. Rape Crisis, along with other support organisations, are still open and providing support services throughout Covid-19.
