Hey!
My name is Jess Murdoch, I have recently finished my A-Levels and will be spending time over the next year fundraising and volunteering for the very worth while charity Lattitude, with the International Citizenship Service.
ICS is a government funded programme which allows young people to volunteer and raise money and awareness for various charities, such as Lattitude, which focuses on youth and community development in countries across the world.
In January, I will be going to the Sangilo village in Malawi for 3 months with Lattitude ICS, with the mission to empower the people of Malawi by implementing sustainable, community-driven solutions that promote human advancement. The work I will be doing during my placement will focus around promoting education in the youth of Malawi, as well as community construction projects such as school blocks, reforestation projects, social enterprise projects, school feeding programs, women empowerment and delivering literacy lessons to various adults in Sangilo village.
I will also be volunteering locally on my return to the UK to help raise awareness of issues closer to home and encourage others to also get involved with charity work.
Over the next few months, I will be doing various fundraising activities and events, such as a 'Live Below the Line' week in which I experience what it is like to live on the poverty line.
My fundraising target is £1500, and ALL money raised will be going directly to the charity Lattitude!
Any donations, whether they be spontaneous or as a sponsor for a certain event I am doing, will be hugely appreciated! And I look forward to keeping you all updated on the progress!
Many thanks for your time!
Jess
