Story
About 1 in 8 U.S. women (about 12.4%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. In 2018, an estimated 266,120 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 63,960 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer.
While these are very real statistics, nobody expects it to happen to themselves or someone they love. Someone close to me who prefers to remain anonymous, has recently been diagnosed with cancer and is currently making some tough decisions.
I initially planned on scraping my way through my first half marathon in January but have since decided to raise money for the Cancer Research Institute in honor of this special person and many others.
All donations will help but if you have any other suggestions on how I can raise funds or if you'd like me to list the name of someone you'd like to honor on my shirt, please feel free to message me directly.
Thank you :)
