Story
On Sunday 3rd October I'll be running the TCS London Marathon for Teenage Cancer Trust on behalf of my boyfriend Rory.
In early 2013 Rory was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer in his right femur. He and received outstanding care and treatment from teams at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Oswestry and The Christie Hospital, Manchester.
Luckily he's been in remission since (wooo!) but we both remain thankful to Teenage Cancer Trust for supporting him through the most difficult time in his life. Any money raised from the run will contribute towards helping teenagers and their families currently going through cancer treatment. TCT's work involves providing specialist teenage units within NHS hospitals, training and funding for staff and enabling dedicated facilities for young people that otherwise wouldn't be available on standard paediatric oncology wards.
I met Rory thorough a mutual friend in 2012 and was immediately drawn to his humility, warmth and fantastic sense of humour. Despite his situation, he remained composed, stoic and never complained throughout his treatment. He finished Chemotherapy on 1st February 2014 (his 18th birthday!) and we've been together since. I'm grateful to everybody that was involved in his care, Rory is usually the one looking after everybody else and Teenage Cancer Trust was there for him when he needed it most. Any donation is greatly appreciated, thank you so much for your support!
