The Children’s Heart Federation (CHF) is the leading national charity championing children with heart conditions. CHF is dedicated in empowering these children, their families, and carers.

Story

I'm kicking off 2019 sober, in order to raise money for The Children's Heart Federation, which supports children with acquired or congenital heart conditions and their families. Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) is a condition usually diagnosed during pregnancy when the left side of the heart has not developed properly.

Here's a snippet of my beautiful goddaughter Klara’s HLHS journey..

At 12 weeks, the first pregnancy scan revealed something abnormal about Klara's heart. A few weeks later, her parents Patrycja (my cousin) and Dawid were informed that their little girl had HLHS. They chose to fight and were told to prepare for difficult times ahead, which would include a minimum of 3 open heart surgeries.

Klara was born on the 11th of September 2018.

The first surgery was a huge success however there have been a few bumps in the road since.

Klara is doing well and is approaching her second surgery.

My participation in Dry January will hopefully raise awareness of HLHS and support families affected by it, showing that there is more to life than a round of jaeger bombs.
