Story
Hi I am Jessica. I have been working with Oasis India for the past 18 years with girls who have been caught up in situations of human trafficking. I am participating in Mukthi Bike Challenge along with my husband James to raise the awareness on the issue of human trafficking & other forms of violence against women. The funds raised will go towards grassroot work Oasis India does to prevent trafficking. Thanks for your support.
Bhavya* was trafficked into sex work by a well-wisher who often visited her house, enticing her with the promise of good job opportunities in the city. She never returned home but maintained the impression that everything was okay at the job and that she was earning well.Bhavya fell in love and she got married in the hope that life was going to get better. For a while she no longer had to work in the red-light area, but when she became pregnant with her second child, she found out that her husband was already married. He stopped living with her and she was forced to return to the red-light district with her two children and was devastated that she had to go back to her previous lifestyle.Bhavya met an Oasis change agent, who helped her babysit her children and guided Bhavya to put her two children in a hostel where they are finally safe, and has herself moved into our rehabilitation home, Nirmal Bhavan, for the new beginning that she always deserved.
