Story
Hi Everyone,
Its official I have gone completly mad! I have once again signed myself up for the Melbourne Marathon, a 26 mile (42k) run on the 11th October.
I have decided to raise money whilst I run as not only is it a good excuse to get people to dig deep, but when I hit 20 miles I find it helps to know that my efforts are all for a good cause!
I wanted to pick a charity that means something to me or has touched the lives of those I care about. I went out for a training run with the sole purpose of choosing a charity. It was a beautiful, if somewhat cold winters day. As I ran down by the beach the skies were clear blue, but heading towards town the wind got up and as I turned onto the river trail ahead of me the skies turned black as night and out came the most amazing rainbow I have ever seen. Decision made.
Rosies Rainbow fund is a charity created by a family that has meant so much to me over the years.
For those of you who dont know I studied drama at Redroofs Theatre School. The school is run by Miss Rose and her family of thespians. It is a place of Joy, Laughter and Inspiration where I made some of the best friends a person can have, and created some of my funniest and happiest memories.
Rosie is Miss Rose's Grandaughter. She was sadly taken from them in 2003 aged 11, after being diagnosed with a rare illness. During her time in hospital Rosie expressed a wish to help others in a similar situation, and so after her tradgic death Carolyn, Rosies mother, with the help of her family started Rosies Rainbow fund to raise money to help support other families suffering by funding
-Research into childhood desease,
-Music therapy using art and play,
- And support for families who have children in hospital, and where necessary, bereavement support.
Please help me support Rosie and remember to look out for a rainbow on October the 11th.
