I am always on my bicycle but it has been at least ten years since I have attempted a cycle ride of this scale.  I am super proud to be cycling 155 miles for Skylarks, which is not only my work charity but one that supports a dear friend and neighbour.

Skylarks support over 2,300 children in our local area who were born with a rare syndrome, have a disability or who have additional needs due to autism, Down's syndrome, speech/hearing/visual loss, or anything that's not neurotypical.  For these children, their lives can be incredibly challenging and this is where Skylarks comes in to support and help them reach their full potential,  Skylarks create environments where children can be heard and understood, where they can meet with others and be themselves, connect and have fun without being judged or alienated. 

Skylarks are also there for the parents, carers, and their whole families too.

The Skylarks community is very special and lockdown created immense challenges for them in terms of staying connected. Thankfully, Skylarks were able to move their sessions online to maintain contact and keep their beneficiaries engaged with their favourite classes and in touch with familiar faces.  After the last year, where charities have faced massive reductions in donation amounts Skylarks need our support now more than ever!
